    Description

This is a vintage original revised screenplay from the 1970's political satire comedy,
    AMERICATHON
, released in 1979 by United Artists and
    directed by Neal Israel
. In a story told in narrative flashbacks, a young TV consultant is hired by the President (John Ritter) of a bankrupt USA to organize a telethon in order to prevent the country from being repossessed by wealthy Native Americans.
This is a revised screenplay dated October 19, 1978 and was written by Neil Israel, Monica Johnson, Peter Bergman, and Phillip Proctor. It consists of 108 pages on pink, white, and blue stock. It has been 3-hole punched and bound with two metal grommets. The title page references Lorimar Productions in Burbank, California on the bottom left and handwritten in pencil on the bottom right is the address "846 N. Cahuenga, Hollywood," which is or was the address of Ren-Mar Studios and RED Studios.
There are two handwritten notations on the front cover with the date 10-25-78 and multiple notations in which either a location, character name, etc. have been underlined, so this example most likely belonged to one of the crew members, perhaps the production manager, etc. This vintage original screenplay is complete and in overall fine condition. There front cover had separated from the grommets and there is signs of wear and discoloration along the side borders. The light blue back cover had two stains in the top 3 inches and a very small area of staining on the bottom right corner.
As part of the promotion for this film's release in 1979, Ted Coombs traveled on roller-skates across the USA for a total of 5,193 miles, setting a world record. He is now a technology author, futurist, artist, and scientist.
Dorothy Stratten appears in an uncredited role wearing a Playboy Bunny style costume in the scene where Roy Budnitz donates blood.
During the fight scene between Oklahoma Daredevil Roy Budnitz (Meat Loaf) and the only running car left (Camaro) the wheels change shot to shot, from high-end honeycomb alloy wheels to basic steel rally wheels. At the end when they rap up what happened to the people involved. The say that Monty Rushmore (Harvey Korman) after a 2 year stint in a mental institution he became the host of other "The Tonight Show". Jay Leno who plays Larry Miller aka. Poopy butt is in a scene where he fights his mother played by stunt women Mary Boss. This is the only film where John Ritter appeared with George Carlin and was Carlin's last film of the 1970’s.
